A single one-to-fifty-three is the most arguable page we could publish, which is tempting. But Kiroro against Kani is a comparison nobody makes. So: three lists, each ranked. Stays, nights and the year we were last there sit beside each village, because the number of stays says more than any adjective. Fifty-three villages, all open today. Three of them — Kiroro Grand, La Plagne 2100 and La Pointe aux Canonniers — we have seen for a day rather than slept in.
The order is ours. It will change; the record won’t.
