All-inclusive, selectively

Never been to Club Med? Between us, we've been to seventy-three of them.

Seventy-three villages since 2005, 566 nights. Twenty-one have closed since we stayed; fifty-two are still open, and those are the ones we can send you to. We know which room to ask for, which weeks to avoid — and when Club Med isn't the answer at all.

The evidence

Eighteen of the seventy-three.

Every one photographed by us, at the gate — in whatever weather we found. Some of these villages no longer exist.

Three ways in

Which first-timer are you?

Val d’Isère

The Alps, all-inclusive

Lift pass, lessons, childcare, dinner and the wine — one price. A Val d'Isère week costs less than a Colorado one once you add the lift tickets. Most skiers have never seen the format. "Which week?" is the whole question.

Seychelles

The Exclusive Collection

Couples, and grown-up families. Dominican Republic, Seychelles, Sicily, and the Exclusive Collection spaces inside resorts: Club Med's top tier, priced with the luxury resorts and quieter than most of them.

Talk to us

Michès

First week in the Caribbean

Families with children under twelve. Cancún and the Dominican Republic. Baby Club from four months, teens who disappear happily, and parents who get a day back. Michès is the one we'd choose — ask us why.

Talk to us

The question everyone asks

Isn't it very French?

Sometimes, and we'll tell you when.

In the Alps and the Mediterranean during the French school holidays, yes: announcements, dinner times and the dance floor. Outside those weeks, in our experience, the same resorts run international. The Caribbean, Asia and the Exclusive Collection spaces have felt international whenever we've been. It's a resort-and-week question, not a brand one — and it's the first thing we settle on the call.

Buffet, animation, sing-along?

Less than you fear and more than nothing. The Exclusive Collection spaces have their own bars and pools; the family resorts have a Zen Oasis for adults. And if what you want isn't Club Med, we'll say so. That's the point of asking someone who isn't paid to say yes.

What the website can't tell you

We know when Club Med is brilliant, and when it isn't.

Club Med's own site will sell you a room. It won't tell you that the room next door is the one you wanted, that the week you picked is a French school holiday, or that the resort two hours south is a better fit for a four-year-old.

No fee, either way. We charge nothing for a Club Med booking, and we quote against Club Med's own published rate so you see the two side by side. What you get is the choice made properly, a quote held in your name, and one person to call when something needs fixing on the ground.

  • 1
The right resort, not the nearest one. Seventy-three villages' worth of "this one, not that one" — for your children's ages, your skiing, your tolerance for a buffet.
  • 2
The right room, by name. Every Club Med has rooms you'd want and rooms you'd complain about. We know which, and we ask for them.
  • 3
The right week. The French school zones, the half-terms, the shoulder weeks when the resort is yours. We keep the calendar so you don't have to.
  • 4
Everything around it. Club Med's own offers applied correctly, a night before at a partner hotel with the amenities that come with it, transfers, excursions, spa treatments and Baby Club pre-booked before they fill.
  • 5
People we know, at the resorts. Twenty years of going back means we know staff at a good number of these villages. We can put a request in ahead of your arrival — a room aspect, your preferences, early check-in. Nobody can promise what a resort will grant, and we won't pretend otherwise; but the request lands with someone who knows us.

Twenty years of this. Somebody may as well get the use of it.

From our own receipts

What we actually paid

Dynamic pricing means the website never quite answers "what does a week cost". Our last six stays do: per person, per night, all-inclusive, from our own receipts.

What we paid, not what you'll pay: prices move with the season and the room. The point is the range — and that a Maldives week and an Alpine week can cost the same.

The whole record

Where we've been, and where we haven't.

Seventy-one stayed at overnight. Two more seen for a day. Twenty-one of the seventy-three have closed since we were there, which is its own kind of record. Fifty-two are still open — and five of those we haven't reached yet.

The five are the reason you can trust us on the fifty-two: we'll tell you when we haven't been, too.
